My clients know exactly what type of wedding they would like, but have very busy lives and often feel uncertain how to go about planning such a special, beautiful and memorable occasion. One of the key areas that my clients ask for my assistance in, is the coordination and management of their budget. I’ve put together three handy tips to stay on top of your wedding budget;

Decide what is important to you

Invest your money in the areas that matter most to you. It is your day, so do not feel as though you should spend money on something that just isn’t for you. If you and your partner are real foodies and love eating out, then why not invest in an amazing wedding caterer and work together to create a bespoke menu that will wow your guests. Many of my clients choose to work with some of London’s most prestigious wedding caterers, and often choose to bring a sommelier on board to ensure that the wine pairings match perfectly.

Get to know your suppliers

Invest time in the suppliers that you’re working with. This is the biggest and most important day of your life and probably the biggest event you will ever have to organise. Much of your wedding is in the hands of the suppliers you work with such as your wedding venue, your florist and your photographer, so choose carefully and invest wisely. Don’t be afraid to contact at least three or four suppliers in each category. Ask for examples of their work, testimonials from previous clients and a clear break down of what is included as part of their service. I have a network of experienced and reliable wedding suppliers in London, from cake designers to caterers, florists to photographers and will never recommend a supplier to you that I can’t personally vouch for.

Keep organised!

Set up reminders so that you know when payments are due and use a spreadsheet to keep track of what suppliers need to be paid and when. Most suppliers will require a deposit in the initial stages and then the remainder of the deposit around 8 weeks before your wedding date. A wedding planner will be able to help you coordinate the administration for your wedding but if you are going it alone then don’t forget to stay organised and on top of payments.
